Heme D1 biosynthesis
This part consists of 7 genes from the NIR operon which are NIR F, D, L, G, H, J, E, and N. Genes F and N encode proteins This set of genes is responsible for the conversion of heme to heme D1. In particular, they're responsible for the addition of a double bond on the propionate side-chain. The NIR operon as a whole also works towards nitrate reduction however that part of the operon was not included in this part.
